Almanac is a YC S26 startup building a hosted wiki that is source-backed by design: you upload the files you already have (notes, CSVs, PDFs), it organizes them into pages with a source library, and keeps every claim cited back to an original source document. Pages carry a revision date and linked evidence, and the same wiki is readable by humans in the browser and accessible to agents through a CLI, MCP server, SDK, and API. Launched on Hacker News August 31, 2026. Site Launch HN Docs
The pitch is that agent context degrades when it is not grounded: a folder of files is neither readable for a team nor addressable for an agent, so Almanac builds the intermediate layer - pages with citations that an agent can search, read, and update, with the evidence attached. The CLI demo shows the shape: link a wiki, upload sources, search by path. Install is a curl script; hosted wiki, source library, and job state run on their side.
It is early: a three-founder launch page, no pricing visible, and the demo is a mortgage-refinance wiki. But the wedge is exactly the space between "files on a drive" and "agent with current company context", which is where most agent deployments stall.
